A lot of things sound great in theory but are not that great in reality.

A lot of ideas are romanticized by culture and give us a good feeling when we think about doing them. The idea of the activity is more attractive than doing the actual thing itself.

Think about this the next time you feel like you want something. Inagine what it would be like. Then audit your past experiences and determine if it is really the action/activity that attracts you or merely the idea of it.

This method helps a lot to avoid situations where you would otherwise voluntarily engage with, but soon realize you don’t want to be in. Spend your time on things you actually want to do.
